Instant movie star lashes

Too Faced Lash Injection, $19.50

TotalBeauty.com rating: 9

"To really attain the look promised by the Diorshow Mascara magazine ads, try this waterproof formula. One coat delivers 'extreme volume' and 'wow'-worthy length that's clump-free for up to two months of daily use. The budge-less formula is hard to apply on short lashes with such a fat brush, but removal is easy if done correctly. Use makeup remover -- not soap and warm water as Too Faced advises -- and (fun!) the mascara slides off in little tubes." -- Reviewed by Beth, Editor-in-Chief

Best false lash alternative

L'Oréal Telescopic Mascara, $7.59

TotalBeauty.com rating: 8.5

"Dramatic, longer lashes are possible with this mascara -- if you can work the wand. The bristle-less, comb-like 'precision brush' can be unsettling. It deposits a lot of mascara at once, so it takes time to comb the product through for a clump-free finish. Once it's on, though, it doesn't run or flake. Is it worth the fuss? I say definitely, especially after a friend asked if I had lash extensions." -- Reviewed by Kristen, Senior Editor

Favorite tube technology

Blinc Kiss Me Mascara, $25

TotalBeauty.com rating: 9

"Skepticism may peak upon hearing that this is a fave of celebrities like the short-lashed Lucy Liu. If not for a lack of intense volume at such a high price, the imperfection-free, tube-technology formula would get a 10. Fine bristles and a spiral brush amplify defining powers, tripling length while keeping the look incredibly natural. Removal is simple: Slide tubes off with fingers while washing your face. (Makeup remover won't work.) Don't be startled by stray pieces, which look like tiny wet feathers." -- Reviewed by Charli, Associate Editor

Best all around

Lancome Definicils, $23.50

TotalBeauty.com rating: 9

"There's a reason this mascara wins awards -- it's amazing. One coat gives you lashes so long they practically touch your eyebrows, and each lash is defined without grouping or clumping. Plus, it doesn't flake or smudge all day and removes easily with eye makeup remover. The black shade offers rich color, and the long tube will last at least a month or two without drying out. It's not a cheapie, but the quality formula makes it worth a few extra dollars." -- Reviewed by Sarah, Assistant Editor
