DAY 1 – Friday, July 18
Get in early on Friday night, set up a tent at the JDate campground and meet the gang you’ll be exploring the Sierra foothills with this weekend. Looking for some dinner? Ask the guides about grabbing a bite at one of the charming local eateries.
DAY 2 – Saturday, July 19
Rise and shine campers! After a delicious breakfast, we’ll meet up at the picnic tables at 10 am for orientation. Then we’ll put our boats in the water and start out with an easy three-mile run before heading out to the Gorge. This 11-mile section of the river starts out peacefully before the rollercoaster begins. Haystack Canyon, Lost Hat, Satan's Cesspool (as seen on PBS Dragonfly TV) and Hospital Bar are some of the wildly fun rapids we’ll negotiate.
Later that afternoon, we’ll pull in to camp where you can rest your bones with a hot shower before we tap the keg and share stories over dinner. Local El Dorado wines and hors d’oeuvres will also be presented for your tasting pleasure in the Wine and Beverage Garden. Then it’s time to snuggle up in front of crackling campfire set to the sounds of a live bluegrass guitarist.
We’ll camp under the stars with a fire and be lulled to sleep to dream of the next day back out on the river.
DAY 3 – Sunday, July 20
It’s rise and shine and on the river by 9 am to head out to the 10.5-mile Chili Bar, a tumbling run over Class III whitewater with names like Meatgrinder, Racehorse Bend and the world-renowned "Troublemaker Rapid!" After braving the final leg of our adventure, our trip will culminate with a hearty barbeque lunch. This trip is a wonderful weekend getaway and a fabulous chance to meet daring new people.
